Wike’s loyalists emerge as Kano PDP Exco

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike

Strong supporters of Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barr. Nysome Wike, have emerged as the new state executives of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kano, following the state Congress held on Saturday.

The 36 new members emerged through delegates’ consensus, which confirmed their leadership under Alh. Abdulrahman Mohammad Takusara, the party’s National Chairman.

Incidentally, the emergence of the new Kano state executive occurred less than 72 hours after the Appeal Court overruled the PDP Ibadan convention that produced the Kabiru Taminu Turaki-led National Working Committee.

The new state executives include: Dr. Bello Gambo Bichi; Vice Chairman, Sagir Abdulkadir; Secretary, Hon. Rabi’u Sale Wangai; Legal Adviser, Barr. Abdullahi Umar; State Treasurer Lawan Shehu Yakasai; and Financial Secretary Ali Mati Shantake, among others.

Addressing the Congress, the leader of the Congress Committee at PDP headquarters, Dr. Aminu Abdullahi Taura, disclosed that the Kano State Congress remains peaceful following the resolution of members to adopt a consensus formula.

Taura, who insisted that PDP remains one indivisible entity in Nigeria, urged the public to disregard any insinuation suggesting acts of faction within the opposition party. He maintained that the emergence of new leadership became necessary after the dissolution of the existing leadership.

Meanwhile, the National Youth Leader of the PDP, Amb. Ibrahim Bala Aboki, explained that PDP is ready to strengthen its position in the next general election, adding that the party under the leadership of FCT minister, Barr. Wike would take all necessary steps to be revived.

When contacted, the Kabiru Taminu Turaki led factional Chairman in Kano, Hon. Yusuf Kibiya, declined to respond to the emergence of the new PDP leadership in Kano. Similarly, the Aminu Wali faction of the party has also remained silent regarding the new leadership in the state.
