The President of the Nasrul-Lahi-l-Fatih Society (NASFAT), Alhaji Ayodeji Abdulwahid Abdulrauf, has urged Muslims to uphold the values of compassion, unity, and service as they celebrate Eid al-Fitr.

In a statement marking the end of Ramadan, Ayodeji congratulated Muslims in Nigeria and across the world, describing the period as one of spiritual renewal, reflection, and support for the less privileged.

He said while Eid al-Fitr signifies the completion of the month-long fast, it also serves as a reminder of the shared values that bind humanity together.

“The month of Ramadan has been a time of fasting, reflection, spiritual renewal, and service to the less fortunate. Eid is not only a celebration of its completion, but also a reminder of our obligations to one another, especially those affected by poverty, conflict, and disease,” he said.

The NASFAT president noted that the values of discipline, sacrifice, and generosity observed during Ramadan should not end with the season, urging Muslims to sustain them in their daily lives.

He also highlighted the contributions of Muslim communities across the world, noting that they continue to play significant roles in the development of their respective countries.

According to him, Muslims contribute to nation-building and strengthen the social and economic fabric of societies where they reside.

“In all NASFAT locations across the world, Eid reminds us of the many achievements and contributions of Muslim citizens and residents who are building nations and strengthening their systems,” he said.

Ayodeji said NASFAT stands in solidarity with people of all faiths and supports efforts to promote peaceful coexistence and equal opportunities for all.

He added that the organisation remains committed to encouraging members to contribute positively to their communities and support initiatives that promote development and social welfare.

The NASFAT president also reminded Muslims of the importance of observing the six days of fasting in the month of Shawwal, which follows Ramadan.

He encouraged adherents to continue acts of worship after Ramadan, noting that the additional fasts offer an opportunity to sustain spiritual growth and earn more rewards.

“We should not forget the six days of fasting in Shawwal. Muslims are encouraged to observe them to strengthen their faith and build on the spiritual gains of Ramadan,” he said.

Ayodeji also addressed ongoing global tensions, cautioning Muslims against interpreting geopolitical conflicts as religious disputes.

He specifically referred to tensions involving the United States, Israel and Iran, stressing that such issues should not be seen through a religious lens.

According to him, these conflicts are largely driven by political and strategic interests rather than religion.

“We appeal to Muslims not to view ongoing global tensions as religious conflicts. They are largely struggles for power and influence. Religious extremists and young people should not use such situations to promote division or conflict within communities,” he said.

He urged Muslims, particularly the youth, to remain peaceful and avoid actions that could create tension or disrupt harmony in society.

Ayodeji emphasised the need for continued prayers for peace, stability and prosperity in Nigeria and across the world.

He said Eid-al-Fitr should be a time to promote unity, strengthen relationships and extend support to those in need.

The NASFAT president also used the occasion to commend members of the organisation and other Muslims who contributed to charitable activities during Ramadan.

He encouraged continued support for humanitarian causes, noting that acts of kindness and generosity should remain a core part of Muslim life beyond the fasting period.

On behalf of NASFAT’s leadership, including its Board of Trustees and executive bodies, Ayodeji extended his best wishes to Muslims celebrating Eid-al-Fitr.

He prayed for peace, joy and blessings for families and communities, while calling for sustained commitment to values that promote harmony and development.

“On behalf of NASFAT leadership and members worldwide, we wish all Muslims a blessed and joyous Eid celebration,” he said.
