2027: Jarigbe seeks re-election, rallies support for Tinubu, Otu reforms

The Senator representing Cross River North Senatorial District, Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe, has intensified consultations ahead of the 2027 general elections, urging stakeholders to support the reform agendas of President Bola Ahmed Tinubuq and Cross River State Governor Bassey Otu.
During a meeting with the Obudu Traditional Rulers Council and leaders of the All Progressives Congress in Obudu Local Government Area, Jarigbe described the policy directions of both leaders as key to improving living standards.

Addressing party faithful, the lawmaker commended Governor Otu as a grassroots-oriented leader committed to revitalising the state’s economy. He urged continued backing for ongoing reforms, noting that collective support would translate into tangible development.

Jarigbe, who also met with stakeholders in Obanliku Local Government Area, said his bid for re-election should be judged on performance rather than ethnic or regional considerations.

“I appeal for your support not based on where I come from, but on what I have done and what I am determined to do for our people,” he said.

The senator stressed his commitment to attracting more federal presence to the district to drive grassroots development, adding that sustained engagement with constituents remains a priority.

He particularly praised the people of Obudu for what he described as their “unbiased” political disposition, recalling his electoral success in several wards despite contesting against a local indigene.

Jarigbe also highlighted his personal connection to the area, noting that he received his early education in Obudu and has longstanding ties with many families in the community.

Reflecting on past political developments, he recalled advocating for a power shift to the northern part of Cross River State, which eventually produced a governor from the area.

Stakeholders at both meetings, including traditional rulers and party executives, commended the senator for his representation and developmental efforts across the district.

They cited projects such as the Amukwong Bridge in Alege/Ubang, Igwo Road, Betukwel Road, and several town hall initiatives as evidence of his impact.

They pledged continued support for his re-election bid, expressing confidence in his ability to deliver more dividends of democracy.

Jarigbe said his consultations would continue across the senatorial district as political activities gradually build up ahead of 2027, reiterating his commitment to effective representation and improved welfare for his constituents.
