Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo has issued a stern warning to actor Olanrewaju Omiyinka, also known as Baba Ijesha, telling him to stop mentioning her children while addressing the public about his past conviction.

In a post shared on her Instagram story, Ojo said she had no issue with Baba Ijesha telling his side of the story, but drew a clear line at what she described as attempts to involve her children.

“Take this as a notice to desist from using my children as your cheap bait. It won’t fly,” she wrote.

She went on to clarify claims reportedly made by the actor about having custody of her children when they were younger. According to Ojo, her children were always under the care of nannies or her late mother and were never left alone.

“At my former business place in Ilupeju, I had multiple staff, including stylists, sales representatives, and apprentices, so it is unlikely I would be the one running errands,” she said, adding that she could always send a worker if needed.

Ojo stressed that while Baba Ijesha was once a senior colleague, their relationship did not extend beyond that. She also addressed the core issue of the case, reminding the public that the victim involved was a minor.

“That 14-year-old girl was a minor, and sexual assault is never okay. It is a crime. You should show some remorse,” she added.

Her reaction follows comments made by Baba Ijesha during a podcast hosted by actress Biola Bayo, where he denied being a paedophile or a rapist. In the interview, he also claimed that Ojo had once left her children in his care when they were younger.

After his release, the actor had also released a song titled “Eniwaye daran,” where he appeared to present his own version of events and shared his experience in prison.

Ojo, however, maintained that the matter had already been decided in court and should not be distorted in the public space.

“The court found you guilty based on evidence, so please don’t drag my kids into this. Stop mentioning their names, else I will direct my counsel to serve you appropriate papers,” she wrote.

She ended her statement with hashtags condemning child abuse and calling out those who defend such acts.

The renewed exchange has brought fresh attention to a case that once dominated public discourse in Nigeria, particularly within the entertainment industry.

Baba Ijesha was arrested in 2021 following allegations of sexual assault involving a minor who was under the care of comedienne Princess the Comedian. The case gained attention after video evidence surfaced, sparking outrage and debate across the country.

He was subsequently charged to court and, in 2022, a Lagos court found him guilty based on the evidence presented. The court sentenced him to 16 years imprisonment.
