Sallah: Emir Sanusi hails Gov. Yusuf’s 30 per cent Budget allocation to Education

Emir of Kano, Dr. Muhammadu Sanusi II has applauded the commitment of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf to qualify teaching and learning which accounted for the 30 per cent allocation in the 2026 budget to education.

Besides, Sanusi who emphasized the significant of girl child education in Northern Nigeria cautioned parents and husbands from prostrating women from accessing quality.

The former Governor, Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) spoke Sunday when he paid a traditional homage (Hauwa Nassarawa) to Government house as part of activities marking Eid Fitir Sallah celebration in Kano.

Khalifa Sanusi who appreciated the honour and recognition accorded him by the Governor Yusuf, emphasized on the rationale behind his decision to return back to University to study law at Northwest University, Kano.

According to him, “We appreciate the honour and recognition being given to us by the Kano State Government. My return to school is not because of court matters, but to encourage others in my position to seek knowledge.

“And for those criticizing my return to school should understand that education comes before kingship. People should rather know that a King who acquires education attains greater dignity, but a King without education is entirely a worthless King”. Emir Sanusi added.

On his part, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf urged residents to prioritize peaceful coexistence with one another for overall development of the state irrespective of political and religious differences.

Governor Yusuf who was represented by Speaker, Kano state House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Ismail Jibrin Falgore said his administration remain committed to strengthen human development and improve the wellbeing of citizens in the state.

“As we celebrate, I call on all citizens
to avoid any action or behavior that
could threaten the peace and stability
of our dear states. Let us continue to
uphold the values of tolerance, mutual
respect, and harmonized co-existence
regardless of our differences.

” I also urge parents and guardians to guide
and counsel their children and youth
to remain law-abiding and to conduct
themselves responsibly throughout

the Sallah celebrations. Let me assure you that this administration remains fully committed to the protection of lives and property”, Yusuf said.
