The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) and Construction Artisan Training School (CATS) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to launch Project 1 Million Construction Artisan Training Vision 2036.

The ambitious initiative aims to train and empower one million Nigerian youths with various construction and artisan skills over the next 10 years, free of charge.

The programme, which is fully funded by CATS and its partners, is to ensure that eligible candidates can access quality training without financial barriers.

The programme would focus on equipping youths with in-demand skills in the construction industry, enhancing their employability and entrepreneurial prospects.

“This partnership is a game-changer for Nigeria’s youth,” said Project Leader, CATS, Dr Olayemi Rotimi-Shodimu, adding.”

“By collaborating with NDE, we can make a significant impact in addressing the country’s construction skills deficit and creating opportunities for our youths.”

NDE’s Director-General, Silas Agara, said: “We are committed to empowering Nigerian youths with skills that drive economic growth,” noting: “This partnership with CATS aligns with our mandate to promote employment and entrepreneurship, and we look forward to transforming the lives of one million youths through this initiative.”
