VBM rallies nationwide support, urges ADC presidential ticket to Obi

The Village Boys Movement (VBM) has intensified calls for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to hand its presidential ticket to Peter Obi, following a coordinated nationwide mobilisation that drew supporters across multiple states.

The group staged what it described as a “2 Million Man March and ADC Registration Drive” on Saturday, with activities held simultaneously in Abia, Adamawa, Anambra, Ebonyi, Plateau, Jigawa, Kaduna, Ondo, Ogun, Oyo, Kogi and Edo states.

Organisers said the exercise reflected growing grassroots momentum and a deepening demand for political change ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In a statement, the Village Headmaster of the movement, Tochukwu Ezeoke, explained that the march served a dual purpose: demonstrating public support for Obi while also driving mass registration into the ADC.

He noted that the initiative is part of a broader strategy to build a structured and nationally coordinated political base.

Ezeoke added that the phased rollout of the mobilisation was intentional, designed to sustain engagement and maintain momentum across regions in the coming weeks.

According to him, the movement is focused on transforming widespread public sentiment into a measurable and organised political force.

VBM argued that the demand for credible leadership in Nigeria has reached a critical point, with citizens becoming increasingly mobilised to influence the country’s democratic trajectory.

The group also pointed to ongoing conversations within key political blocs, including the Peoples Democratic Party, All Progressives Congress, the Labour Party, and the Southern and Middle Belt Leaders Forum, noting that calls for a Southern presidency are gaining increasing traction.

The movement insisted that the ADC must act decisively in line with what it described as the popular will by granting Obi its presidential ticket without delay.

Reaffirming its long-term objective, VBM said it would continue mobilising Nigerians across rural and urban communities to drive what it termed a “decisive political shift” in 2027, stressing that the era of recycled leadership must give way to a new order.

It added that Saturday’s march marks the beginning of what it called a coordinated national awakening.
