Samson Adamu replaces Mosengo-Omba as CAF’s acting General Secretary

Nigeria’s Samson Adamu has been appointed as the interim General Secretary of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), replacing Véron Mosengo-Omba.

In a signed press release dated Sunday, March 29, 2026, from Cairo, Egypt, Mosengo-Omba announced his resignation after over 30 years, effective immediately, to pursue personal projects.

And now, according to www.sportsnewsafrica.com, “The position will not remain vacant for long. With Véron Mosengo-Omba’s departure from the CAF General Secretariat just confirmed, the organization has announced his successor, at least temporarily.

“Following the Executive Committee meeting held this Sunday in Cairo, Samson Adamu was appointed interim Secretary General.”

According to the report, Adamu will hold this position until the next CAF General Assembly. The Nigerian was previously responsible for CAF competitions.
