A governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos State, Laja Adeoye, has declared his intention to unseat the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 governorship election, pledging what he described as a new era of accountable and people-oriented governance.
Adeoye made the declaration in a statement issued on Sunday, where he argued that residents of the state were increasingly dissatisfied with years of APC leadership and were ready for political change.
He said his entry into the race represents an alternative vision focused on economic growth, improved public services and inclusive development.
The real estate entrepreneur and Managing Director of Fendini Limited said his campaign would prioritise practical solutions to challenges confronting Lagos, particularly housing shortages, unemployment and traffic congestion.
According to him, his private-sector experience would shape policies aimed at delivering sustainable urban development and expanding economic opportunities.
He noted that his ambition had received backing from political and civic groups, including the Lagos for Prosperity Group and members of the Inter-Party Advisory Council, adding that the support reflected growing grassroots momentum among youths, professionals and community stakeholders.
Adeoye outlined a governance agenda centred on education, security, healthcare, housing and economic diversification, while promising reforms within the civil service to improve efficiency and staff welfare.
He said his administration would pursue policies to strengthen entrepreneurship, develop technology hubs, promote tourism and agriculture, and expand industrial clusters as part of efforts to create jobs and reduce dependence on federal allocations.
On infrastructure, the aspirant pledged to modernise transportation through rail expansion and improved Bus Rapid Transit systems, alongside road construction across the state’s IBILE divisions.
He also promised improvements in education and healthcare access, enhanced security coordination and environmental sustainability through modern waste management and recycling initiatives.
Addressing the rising cost of living, Adeoye said his proposed policies would focus on job creation, affordable housing and support for small and medium-scale enterprises through access to finance, training and market opportunities.
He added that efforts would be made to reduce multiple taxation and create a more business-friendly environment.
He further assured that his administration would promote youth and women inclusion, expand economic opportunities for informal sector workers and attract foreign investment by ensuring policy stability, improved infrastructure and investor-friendly incentives.
Adeoye maintained that his vision was to position Lagos as a leading investment destination in Africa while ensuring that economic prosperity benefits all residents of the state.
He said: “We will tackle the rising cost of living head-on by creating sustainable jobs through economic diversification, making housing affordable to free up family incomes, and supporting SMEs and the informal sector with access to finance, training, and markets.
“Policies will focus on reducing dependency on imports via local production in agriculture and industry, while ensuring efficient public services that lower daily expenses on transport and utilities.
“Prosperity must reach every Lagosians—not just a few. My Administration will also work on stopping multiple and duplicity of tax which is a source of burden to businesses, ” he said.
