Women have been charged to leverage digital tools and financial knowledge to strengthen their economic participation, drive business growth and expand opportunities in the evolving financial landscape.

This was at the International Women’s Day conference organised by Accion Microfinance Bank, in collaboration with GirlLearn Africa, themed ‘Driving Women’s Digital and Financial Empowerment’, held in Lagos.

Managing Director/CEO of Accion Microfinance Bank, Taiwo Joda, speaking on ‘Driving Impact Through Visionary Leadership’, stressed the importance of collaboration and intentional leadership in achieving sustainable growth.

He said: “True leadership is not a one-man effort; it is driven by collective contribution across teams and genders. Empowering others, sharing knowledge, and building capable teams are critical to sustaining growth and creating long-term value.”

Joda highlighted the need for women in leadership to create enabling environments that encourage knowledge-sharing and initiative, noting that such efforts are key to long-term impact.

Founder of The SalesVilleAfrica, Treasure Ernest, urged participants to embrace continuous learning and apply knowledge to unlock opportunities.

“The capacity to grow and succeed already exists within you. The key is to feed your mind with the right knowledge and take action. When you begin to apply what you learn, you unlock new opportunities and transform your reality,” she said.

Founder of GirlLearn Africa, Ajiri Okoribe, encouraged women to take decisive steps toward personal and professional advancement.

“The next step in your journey requires clarity, courage and action. You cannot remain where you are and expect different results. When women begin to take intentional steps toward their goals, they unlock opportunities that transform not just their lives, but the lives of others,” she said.

Also, Chief Commercial Officer, Accion MfB, Stephen Olalere, underscored the importance of digital adoption, noting that individuals and businesses must embrace digital channels to remain competitive in a rapidly changing financial landscape.

Olalere reiterated the bank’s commitment to supporting women through accessible and ethical financial services.
