Chaos in the Ring: Adamu eyes long-term value creation in Nigerian boxing

The Chief Executive Officer of Balmoral Group, and promoter of Chaos in the Ring, Dr Ezekiel Adamu, has outlined an ambitious vision to transform Nigeria’s boxing industry into a major economic driver.

With a flagship event scheduled for May 1, 2026, Adamu revealed that the Chaos in the Ring concept extends beyond the ropes—spanning global streaming partnerships and long-term plans to build a sustainable experiential economy.

“We are building towards becoming one of Africa’s leading experiential platforms, with ambitions that go well beyond boxing,” Adamu said.

“The goal is to create a large-scale business capable of eventually accessing the public markets. In the coming years, we aim to position it as the first experiential infrastructure platform to be listed on the Nigerian Stock Exchange, enabling expansion across multiple African markets.”

Adamu described the initiative as part of a broader cultural economy, designed to connect African talent with global visibility and monetisation opportunities.

“What we are building is part of the cultural economy. We are creating systems and consistent platforms capable of connecting talent with visibility and monetisation on a global level,” he added.

He pointed to DAZN’s global reach and the event’s expanding international footprint as evidence that Lagos is steadily emerging as Africa’s boxing capital, noting that the franchise has already generated tens of millions of impressions through collaborations with international fighters and promoters.

“Partnering with Amir Khan and DAZN will give the talents we undeniably have in Nigeria and across Africa the exposure they need,” Adamu said.

Central to the fight card is a WBO All-Africa cruiserweight title clash between Ezra Arenyeka and Godday Appah—framed as a “Peace Fight” aimed at easing tensions between the Ijaw and Itsekiri communities in the Niger Delta.

“We don’t want to fight with guns or weapons anymore. We want to settle the score in the ring,” Adamu said, adding that the winner will be named a Peace Ambassador for the Niger Delta.

The event will also feature teenage sensation Raheem Animashaun (19-0, 12 KOs), the youngest West African Boxing Union super-lightweight champion in history, who is set to face Tanzanian veteran Emmanuel Amos (22-10-1, 13 KOs).

Adamu revealed that Animashaun recently secured a deal with a major international boxing platform following his performance at a previous edition, underscoring the event’s growing global appeal. “That shows the platform is growing and that a global audience is paying attention,” he said.
