In a strategic push to deepen financial inclusion and unlock the economic potential of women, AXA Mansard Investment Limited has launched a mentorship initiative aimed at strengthening the investment culture and financial literacy of young professional women across Nigeria.
The programme, unveiled to mark International Women’s Day and themed “Acting for Her Progress,” reflects a growing recognition within the financial services industry that closing the gender gap in investment participation is critical to long-term economic growth. By connecting participants with accomplished female leaders across finance, marketing, law, and media, the initiative provides direct access to practical insights on wealth creation, risk management, and financial planning.
Chief Executive Officer of the firm, Deji Tunde-Anjous, described the programme as a deliberate intervention to address structural gaps in financial literacy among women, noting that empowering women financially has far-reaching implications for households and the wider economy.
“Women are economic multipliers. Strengthening their financial capacity is not just a social imperative but an economic one,” he said, adding that improving investment awareness among women would accelerate progress towards a more inclusive financial ecosystem.
Beyond knowledge transfer, industry observers see the initiative as part of a broader shift among financial institutions towards purpose-driven engagement, where mentorship and advisory platforms are increasingly deployed to drive customer confidence and long-term participation in investment markets.
Also speaking, Chief Marketing Officer of AXA Mansard Plc, Adebola Surakat, highlighted mentorship as a critical lever for building financial confidence.
“Financial empowerment remains one of the most effective ways to expand opportunities for women. Creating access to mentorship allows them to learn from real experiences and make more informed financial decisions,” she said.
With strong early participation and rapid uptake, the initiative signals a rising appetite among Nigerian women for structured financial guidance and investment opportunities—an area analysts say remains underdeveloped but pivotal to the growth of the country’s financial markets.
Through the programme, AXA Mansard Investment is positioning itself at the intersection of financial education, inclusion, and long-term wealth creation, reinforcing its commitment to building a more resilient and inclusive investment landscape.
