Oyo State Police Command has reassured residents of its unwavering commitment to the protection of lives and property in the state, announcing enhanced security measures to sustain peace and order across the state.

In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Olayinka Ayanlade, the command disclosed that the measures were in compliance with directives from the Force Headquarters (FHQ) aimed at preventing crime, improving emergency response and addressing emerging security threats.

According to the statement, the command has intensified visibility policing, with patrol vehicles and operational assets strategically deployed across key locations to ensure swift response to distress calls and incidents.

It noted that the response time to emergencies had significantly improved as a result of the proactive deployment strategy.

The police also disclosed that they had strengthened collaboration with other security agencies through intelligence sharing and joint operations, including the ongoing Joint Night Patrol initiative, codenamed ‘Convoy Patrol’.
The initiative, which involves multiple security agencies, bolstered coordinated responses to security challenges,
particularly during night operations across the state.

The command further emphasised the importance of community participation in effective policing, revealing that engagement with community leaders, traditional institutions, and residents, especially in border areas, had been intensified to enhance intelligence gathering.

The command urged residents to promptly report suspicious movements and activities through designated emergency channels or directly to security operatives to enable timely intervention.

While assuring that the security situation in the state remains under control, the command called on members of the public to remain vigilant and security-conscious at all times.

It also cautioned against the spread of false or unverified information capable of inciting panic, warning that such actions would attract legal consequences.

The Commissioner of Police, Abimbola Olugbenga, commended the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Olatunji Disu, for his continued support and leadership, while urging residents to cooperate with security agencies in maintaining peace.

The command advised residents to utilise its emergency lines in times of distress, reiterating its resolve to remain professional and fully prepared to discharge its constitutional mandate of safeguarding lives and property across the state.
