Ogun: Rescued foreign nationals handed over to NIS for family reunion

Rescued hostages

Police in Ogun State, yesterday, handed over the remaining rescued eight nationals to the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) for proper profiling and immediate reunification with their families.

It would be recalled that two suspects – Stephen Kwame ‘m’, and Abubakar Sulaimon ‘M’, were arrested after the police stormed their hideout in the Owode-Egba area and rescued nine nationals, including a 40-year-old Ghanaian, Maclaud Owusu.

The suspects specialise in defrauding their victims and contacting their families and relatives with their mobile phones to demand money from them under the pretence of taken them to Europe for greener pasture.

The police said that the principal victim, Owosu, had been reunited with his family, while efforts are ongoing to reunite the other rescued victims with their respective families.

However, a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, Oluseyi Babaseyi, stated that the remaining eight victims had been handed over to the NIS to reunite them with their families.

Babaseyi said: “This decisive action underscores a resounding commitment to intelligence-led policing, seamless inter-agency synergy, and the unwavering resolve of the Command to protect victims, dismantle criminal networks, and ensure justice is decisively served.”
