The High Court of Justice Sitting in Yola, the capital of Adamawa state, has ordered all parties involved in a legal dispute within the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to maintain the status quo pending the determination of a motion on notice.
The order was issued on April 9, 2026, by Justice Ahmed Isa in Suit No. HC/ADSY/63/2026, following submissions by counsel Joshua Onoja.
The applicants in the case, as noticed by The Guardian, include Shehu Yohanna Kanbile, Ready Boniface, Idi K. Waziri, and Habiba Danjuma.
They are contesting issues involving key figures and bodies within the ADC, including Ishaya Bauka, Jefrey Tsware Barminas, and the party’s National Working Committee of the African Democratic Congress.
In his ruling, Justice Isa held that the first defendant, General Bauka (rtd), is deemed to have been properly notified of the suit, having been served through court processes confirmed by a bailiff’s affidavit.
The court consequently directed that:
All parties must maintain the current state of affairs until the motion on notice is resolved.
The court order and motion must be served on all defendants for immediate compliance. The motion on notice is scheduled for hearing on April 15, 2026.
The case is expected to address internal disputes within the ADC in Adamawa State, with political observers closely monitoring developments ahead of the next hearing.
