No fewer than 2,000 Kwara youths, on Friday thronged the popular Arca Santa event centre, Ilorin, chanting pro-Araba 2027 governorship bid.
The youths, drawn from across the 16 local governments of the state, started arriving the venue as early as 8:am for the event slated for 10:am.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) youth coalition under the aegies of Kwara Youth for Good Governance (KYFGG), expressed believe in Engr. Femi Sanni, popularly known as Araba’s ability and capability to consolidate on Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s “developmental strides” in the state.
The Convener, Salman Idris, explained that the group’s decision was driven by careful assessment rather than sentiment, describing Sanni “as a candidate whose track record aligns with the expectations of a younger and more politically conscious demographic.
“We are no longer passive observers,” Idris declared, noting a generational shift toward active involvement in governance and leadership selection.
Idris said he was mesmerised by Sanni’s background and achievements in business and enterprise development which remains his major strength, particularly at a time when youth unemployment remains a critical challenge in the state.
According to the youths, beyond economic considerations, Araba’s humanitarian outreach is a reflection of his inclusive leadership, arguing that such qualities would be essential in shaping the next phase of governance in the state.
In its closing remarks, the youth coalition called for a transparent and consultative process within the APC, urging party leaders to prioritize merit, capacity and broad-based acceptance in selecting the party’s flagbearer.
