Nollywood actor Azubuike Michael, popularly known as Zubby Michael, has taken a step into politics after registering with the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

The actor completed his registration on Saturday in Ozubulu, his hometown in Anambra State.

He shared the update on Saturday via Instagram, posting a video that captured the registration process and the moment he received his party membership card.

In his caption, he wrote, “I dey my village, enough of the talking online, I don involve.”

The video also captured a voice in the background suggesting that the actor could be preparing for a future political role.

Speaking in Igbo, the unidentified host said, “We want someone who is hot-blooded, not someone cool, who will go for a House of Representatives seat.”

Despite the speculation, Zubby Michael has not made any public statement confirming plans to run for any elective position.

His move comes at a time when the African Democratic Congress is recording a sharp rise in membership.

The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, had earlier disclosed via his X account on April 5 that registrations had surged significantly.

According to him, the number of new members increased from about 40,000 recorded on April 2 to over 500,000 within a short period between April 1 and the latest count.

“Between 7:00 PM last night when the INEC Statement came out, and 7:00 AM this morning, over 40,000 people have registered to join ADC,” he posted.

Over the years, several Nigerian actors have moved from screen to politics, either by joining political parties or contesting for public office.

Some of the most notable examples include Desmond Elliot, Funke Akindele, Banky W and Tonto Dikeh, whose political journeys have drawn public attention and, in some cases, encouraged conversations around youth participation, leadership and social change.
