Prominent political figure and former South-East spokesman to Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Dr. Denge Josef Onoh, has paid glowing tribute to Niger Delta leader, Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, as he marks his 55th birthday.

In a statement released on the occasion, Onoh described Tompolo as “a symbol of courage, strategic vision, and unyielding commitment to his people,” praising his lifelong dedication to the Niger Delta struggle and national development.

Highlighting Tompolo’s roots in the Gbaramatu Kingdom, Onoh noted that the former militant leader’s rise to prominence reflects resilience and deep cultural grounding. He referenced Tompolo’s connection to traditional practices, including his annual visits to the sacred Aziza Forest, describing it as a testament to his respect for heritage and spirituality.

Onoh commended Tompolo’s transition from agitation to institutional engagement, particularly through his leadership of Tantita Security Services. He credited the firm with playing a significant role in securing oil pipelines, reducing economic sabotage, and creating employment opportunities for youths in the region.

“Your journey from the creeks to becoming a towering voice in the Niger Delta cause is the stuff of legends,” Onoh stated, emphasizing that Tompolo’s efforts brought national attention to issues of marginalization and resource control.

The former lawmaker also praised Tompolo’s philanthropic contributions and community development initiatives, noting that his influence extends beyond the Niger Delta.

According to Onoh, Tompolo has demonstrated that effective leadership is measured by tangible results, including peace, empowerment, and regional stability.

He further described Tompolo as a “bridge-builder” in Nigeria’s often divided socio-political landscape, adding that his example offers hope for greater national cohesion rooted in justice and mutual respect.

As Tompolo celebrates the milestone age of 55, Onoh offered prayers for continued strength, wisdom, and good health, expressing confidence that the Niger Delta leader would sustain his contributions to peace and development.
