Oshodi-Isolo LCDA opens Aswani-Emzor Road to traffic after two years

Lagos State governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu

The Chairman of Oshodi-Isolo Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Olasoju Adebayo, yesterday officially opened the Aswani-Emzor Road to traffic, two years after the project commenced.

The LCDA began the project in December 2024, following repeated requests to the state government for its rehabilitation over the past decade.

The road was commissioned at a ceremony attended by Henry Ajomale, a member of the Governance Advisory Council (GAC), traditional leaders, and other political figures in the state.

The project, initially scheduled for completion by May 2025, included drainage construction and streetlight reconstruction.

However, the work was delayed due to pipelines running through the corridor.

Adebayo explained that certain sections required manual excavation because of the pipelines, which extended the project timeline.

He expressed satisfaction with the completion, noting its expected impact on the local community and businesses along the corridor.

Adebayo described the project as a reflection of his administration’s commitment to infrastructure development and improved living conditions for residents.

He said the road serves as a key economic route within the LCDA, supporting daily activities for residents, commuters, traders, transport operators, and business owners.

The completion of the project is expected to boost economic activity, reduce travel time, improve safety, and support commercial growth in the area.

Adebayo urged stakeholders to maintain the infrastructure to ensure its durability and long-term benefits.

He also advised business owners and road users to comply with traffic regulations and avoid actions that could damage public infrastructure.

The chairman further disclosed that other projects are ongoing in Ilasa and Isolo as part of efforts to sustain development within the LCDA.

The Osolo of Isolo, Isa Faronbi-Shekoni, commended the council chairman, noting that the construction of a community palace is another key initiative of the administration.
