EcoBagMart tops innov8League 4.0 as Africa’s startup ecosystem gains global attention

‎EcoBagMart, a startup focused on sustainable packaging solutions, has won the 2026 edition of Innov8League 4.0, reinforcing growing investor and global interest in Africa’s innovation ecosystem.

The organisers of the global programme, which targets high-growth entrepreneurs from Africa and the diaspora, announced the emergence of EcoBagMart after a competitive, multi-stage selection process involving startups from several countries.

As the overall winner, the venture received a $5,000 prize package, comprising $1,000 in seed funding and post-programme support covering strategy, operations and advisory services aimed at accelerating its market expansion.

The competition, which culminated in a final pitch session, featured startups offering solutions across climate technology, food systems, clean energy and digital infrastructure—sectors seen as critical to unlocking Africa’s economic potential.

Speaking on the outcome, co-convener Ahmed Ogundimu said the initiative is designed to move beyond recognition by equipping founders with the tools required to build scalable ventures.

He noted that the platform enables entrepreneurs to refine their business models, access expert insights and position their ideas for global competitiveness.

In his remarks, co-convener Akinyemi Iledare said the programme provides a structured pathway for startups to gain visibility, receive critical feedback and connect with networks that support long-term growth.

The judging panel included experts in artificial intelligence, venture capital, finance and emerging-market innovation such as Chelsea Iluno, Ademola Adewuyi, Kolade Folami and Dumebi Ugwuegbulam, who assessed entries based on innovation, execution capability, scalability and sustainability.

The latest edition comes at a time when African startups are attracting heightened global attention despite a tightening funding environment, with founders increasingly developing solutions to structural challenges in sustainability, infrastructure and service delivery.
‎Analysts say platforms such as Innov8League are helping to close early-stage gaps by linking entrepreneurs with investors, mentors and cross-border opportunities.

Organisers disclosed that preparations for Innov8League 5.0 are underway, with plans to expand participation across more regions and strengthen partnerships with global institutions and investors.

A participant at the event described the programme as a “transformational platform” that provides startups with exposure and support capable of accelerating growth, regardless of their final ranking.

Industry stakeholders maintain that initiatives of this nature will be pivotal in shaping a pipeline of globally competitive African startups in the coming years.
