Zamfara guards arrest eight terrorist collaborators in Gusau

Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal

Operatives of the Zamfara State Community Protection Guards (CPG) have arrested eight persons suspected of aiding terrorists in Gusau.

Its commandant, AIG Muhammad Shehu Dalijan (rtd), stated this while parading the suspects before journalists at the CPG headquarters in Gusau, yesterday.

He said the guards intercepted a vehicle conveying three brand new motorcycles, an Improvised Explosive Device (IED), and cash totalling N13,500,000, allegedly being taken to terrorists in Bindin, a community in Maru Local Council of the state.

He added that 98 sticks of dynamite, 25 detonators, and 25 coils were also recovered from the suspects.

The items, Dalijan said, are believed to have been meant for the terrorists in exchange for gold.

“The exhibits are suspected to be planted along the roads to kill security personnel,” he observed.

The commandant added that, after a preliminary investigation, the suspects would be handed over to the police for appropriate legal action.

He vowed that the CPG would relentlessly work to ensure “terrorists have no hiding place in the state.”
SIMILARLY, the Zamfara Police Command has assured the people that formidable strategies have been put in place to ensure an effective and successful 2026 farming season in the state.

The 36th Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Mohammed Bello, gave the assurance while fielding questions from reporters during a courtesy visit to the Press Centre, Zamfara State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in Gusau.

According to him, nobody can treat the issue of hunger and starvation with a mere wave of the hand, saying the command and sister security agencies are working in partnership to ensure that farmers access their farmlands without any harassment from ravaging bandits.
