Members of the Nasrul-Lahi-l-Fatih Society (NASFAT), last week, came together in an atmosphere of celebration and relaxation, as they marked their yearly post-Ramadan Family Funfair, usually held after weeks of spiritual devotion.
The third edition of the NASFAT Family Funfair was held at the Lagos State Secretariat Central Mosque, Alausa, Ikeja, featuring a series of exciting activities such as games and competitions for both the young and the elderly.
The children also enjoyed the moment, as the bouncy castle and mascot appearances brought smiles and excitement to their faces.
NASFAT Vice President 1, Kamar Bolaji Olawuyi, an engineer, noted that the event was organised to appreciate Almighty Allah for granting members the opportunity to witness another Eid season after weeks of spiritual devotion.
Olawuyi, who spoke on behalf of the NASFAT President, Abdulwahid Abdul-Rauf, explained that the Family Funfair, which began two years ago, has grown into an annual tradition designed to strengthen bonds among members after the holy month of Ramadan.
He said: “ The beauty and the significance of this is to come together as a family, to network, to rejoice together, to celebrate together as Prophet Muhammad (SAW) has enjoined us to always come as one ummah.”
Also speaking during the event, the Central Chairperson of the 2026 Family Funfair, Muinat Idowu Yusuf, said the significance of the gathering was to provide a balance between spiritual obligations and social engagement within NASFAT.
According to her, the event, traditionally held after Eid-el-Fitr, creates an avenue for members, comprising men, women, youth, and children, to come together as one family to celebrate and unwind after an intense period of worship.
She explained that while NASFAT activities are largely spiritual, particularly the regular Sunday prayers, the funfair offers a different dimension by encouraging interaction, networking, and shared enjoyment among members.
“After this, I expect people to feel relaxed and re-energised for the tasks ahead, especially as they return to work,” she said.
Yusuf also encouraged the leadership of the organisation to consider hosting such events more frequently, in order to further enhance members’ well-being and family bonding.
In her remarks, NASFAT National Women Affairs Secretary, Alhaja Ganiyat Babalola, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to bring members together under a joyful atmosphere.
She further highlighted that the post-Ramadan gathering has become a significant tradition in the Society that offers members the broader opportunity to interact beyond regular prayer meetings.
