Igbinedion University Okada (IUO), Edo State, has hosted a valedictory lecture in honour of Prof. Jacob Unuigbe, celebrating his distinguished career and contributions to the field of medicine.
Speaking during the lecture, the Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof. Lawrence Ezemonye, lauded Unuigbe as a reservoir of knowledge and a global scholar, adding that throughout his distinguished career, he was committed to nurturing medical professionals who have demonstrated exceptional knowledge in the field.
Ezemonye noted that Unuigbe’s impact extends far beyond the university, with his former students making significant contributions to health care both nationally and internationally.
“As we honour Prof. Unuigbe’s retirement, let us not merely applaud his past contributions. Let us be galvanised by his evidence to act. Let us commit to building a Nigeria where no woman dies giving life,” Ezemonye said.
Unuigbe, a professor of maternal health, appreciated the university for the honour done to him, commending all for celebrating with him on the milestone.
Among the personalities at the epoch event include Prof. Dilichukwu Anumba, who spoke on the topic, ‘Reducing Maternal Mortality in Nigeria: What Still Works and What Must Change –
