11 killed, others injured in Bauchi multiple crashes

No fewer than eleven people have lost their lives in multiple auto crashes in Bauchi State while others sustained varying degrees of injuries.

The Bauchi State Command of the Federal Roads Safety Corps (FRSC) in a statement said that the incident occurred on Friday.

According to FRSC, the victims were burnt while the vehicles burst into flames following a collision between the two vehicles. The crash was said to have occurred at Panshanu Hill along the Bauchi – Jos Federal Highway.

The crash occurred on Friday, 17/04/2026, at 06:40pm hours, reported to the FRSC at 06:44hours while the personnel arrived at 06:54hours taking them 10 minutes.

The statement explained that two vehicles were involved in the crash, a MAN, mini-tanker, white in colour belonging to the fleet and operation of the Nigerian Police and the second vehicle, a white J5 Boxer bus with registration number KTU624XY, used for commercial purposes.

The crash occurred in a single carriageway with an unpaved condition while the probable cause of the crash were dangerous driving and worn out tyres.

According to the FRSC report, forty-three people were involved in the crash: 12 male adults, 19 female adults, five male children and seven female children.

Those injured were 32 comprising five male children, 19 female adults, seven female children and one male adult while the 11 killed included one male adult, three male children, five female adults and two female children.

The obstruction has been cleared while the actions taken included the victims were taken to Toro General Hospital for medical attention while those who died were deposited at the same facility.
