Almost two months after the closure of its airspace for flight services, Qatar has allowed “gradual resumption” of foreign airlines’ operations into its terrain.

This follows a ceasefire between Israel/United States and Iran in the ongoing war that has crippled global economies, while triggering energy crisis.

Qatar’s Civil Aviation Authority in a public circulation on Monday, said that it would allow a gradual resumption of foreign airlines’ operations through Hamad International Airport, after a comprehensive safety assessment.

The authority said it issued a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) announcing the move after coordinating with relevant national entities to ensure operational readiness and efficiency.

“All flights and related operations will be carried out in accordance with the highest internationally recognized safety and security standards,” the authority said.

The authority insisted that all necessary measures and precautions had been put in place to safeguard passengers and aviation personnel.

The war broke out on February 28 following attacks on Iran by Israel and United States.

Qatar Airways had suspended flight services between Nigeria (Lagos and Abuja) and the Middle East, particularly Doha, during the height of the crisis crisis, leading to massive flight cancellations and hundreds of stranded passengers.

But, the airline, which operates 28 weekly flights to Nigeria via Hamad International Airport in Doha, ha since resumed flight services to multiple destinations in Nigeria.
