Two trapped, others injured in Lagos-Ibadan Expressway Auto crash

Two persons were trapped under a Sino truck after the vehicle collided with an iron laden truck on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway corridor in Ogun State.

The accident resulted to five persons including the two trapped victims sustaining varying degrees of Injuries from the crash.

Involved in the accident are two heavily loaded trailers: a black CNHTC HOWO (Reg No: TTD-145ZY) carrying iron rods and a white Sinotruck (No Reg No) carrying unidentified materials.

Spokesperson of the FRSC, Ogun State Command, Afolabi Odunsi confirmed this to newsmen in a statement in Abeokuta yesterday.

Odunsi said that seven persons(all male adults) were occupants of the vehicles involved in the crash that occurred on Monday night.

He said that the cause of the accident was due to Speed Violations (SPV) and Loss of Control (LOC).

The superintendent route commander said that the two trapped victims and others who sustained injuries had been rescued and taken to Victory Hospital, Ogere, for medical attention.

He added that two trucks are currently wedged together and require heavy-duty cranes for separation and removal. To ensure the safety of motorists and recovery teams.

However, The Sector Commander, Oludare Ogunjobi, urged motorists to exercise extreme patience, maintain lane discipline, as well as follow the instructions of traffic officers on-site.

Ogunjobi advised travelers to consider alternative routes where possible until the obstruction is fully cleared.
