2027: Bala Mohammed directs appointees with political ambition to resign

The Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed has directed his political appointees who are nursing elective positions to resign before 24th of April, in accordance with the electoral act of 2026 (as amended).

 

The Governor in a statement on Wednesday morning, through his media aide, Mukhtar Gidado, asked the appointees to handover the government property to the appropriate officers in their respective ministries, departments and agencies.

 

“In compliance with the provisions of the Electoral Act 2026 (as amended), the Bauchi State Government hereby advises all political appointees who intend to contest for any elective position in the forthcoming party primary elections to resign their appointments on or before Friday, April 24, 2026, if they have not already done so,” he said.

 

He said that the directive was in line with statutory requirements governing the participation of public office holders in electoral processes and is aimed at ensuring full compliance with the law.

 

He said that the governor expressed his appreciation to the affected appointees for their service and contributions to the development of Bauchi State, and wished them success in their future endeavours.

 

Hon. Nuhu Zaki, former commissioner of water resources had resigned from his position before 31st of March to contest Bauchi Central Senatorial District.
