Leader in West Africa’s cinema and entertainment, Filmhouse Group, has secured global industry recognition following the inclusion of its Lekki flagship cinema on Boxoffice Pro’s inaugural Blue Ribbon List (2026) a trade-led benchmark honouring cinema operators worldwide for excellence in design, technology, hospitality and operational standards.
It is noted that recognitions of this nature strengthen Africa’s visibility within international entertainment and investment sectors, particularly as cinema and content consumption continue to expand across the region and beyond.

The Blue Ribbon List features cinema operators across more than 45 global markets, placing Filmhouse Cinemas alongside leading international exhibitors and reinforcing its position as a premium African cinema operator operating at global standards.
The recognition is independent and industry-driven, serving as positive validation within the global exhibition landscape rather than a consumer award.

It reflects the Group’s continious investment in world class cinema infrastructure, customer service, operational excellence and audience experience across Nigeria, Africa at large and its wider footprint.
Commenting on the recognition, Group CEO, Filmhouse Group, Kene Okwuosa, said the acknowledgement reflects the organisation’s long-term focus on quality and consistency across its operations.

“At Filmhouse Group this recognition speaks to the standards we have built across our cinemas and the teams that deliver those experiences daily. It affirms our commitment to operating at globally competitive levels while continuing to invest in the growth of the exhibition industry in Africa,” he said.
As global studios and exhibitors continue to assess emerging markets for premium theatrical infrastructure, Filmhouse Cinemas inclusion signals Africa’s growing relevance in contemporary exhibition conversations and highlights the Group’s role in shaping modern cinema standards on the continent.

Head of Marketing, Filmhouse Cinemas, Winifred Wessels, added that the recognition reflects years of strategic investment and operational discipline.
“Being recognised on a global exhibition list reinforces the work we have done behind the scenes from infrastructure to service standards and encourages us to continue raising the bar for cinema experiences in Africa,” she said.

She said that the recognition further underpins Filmhouse Group’s role in advancing exhibition standards through innovation, access and audience experience across its markets.
