Africa’s leading industrialist, Aliko Dangote, is set to be conferred with an Honorary Fellowship of the Nigerian Academy of Engineering (NAE) on April 25, 2026, in recognition of his pivotal role in advancing engineering-driven industrialisation.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the academy said the honour will be formally presented at a ceremony hosted by its President and Council, celebrating Dangote’s far-reaching impact on large-scale industrial and infrastructure development across Nigeria and the wider African continent.

Established in 1997, the Nigerian Academy of Engineering is Nigeria’s premier professional engineering body and a key advisory institution on science, technology, and innovation. It brings together distinguished professionals from diverse engineering fields, both locally and internationally, and plays a critical role in shaping policy and driving national development through expert counsel to government and private sector stakeholders.

As President of the Dangote Group, Dangote has been widely acknowledged for championing transformative industrial projects anchored on advanced engineering solutions. His investments span large-scale cement manufacturing plants and one of Africa’s most significant oil refinery projects, underscoring his influence in reshaping the continent’s industrial landscape.

The honorary fellowship places him among an elite group of individuals recognised for outstanding contributions to engineering and technological advancement, including those whose impact transcends formal professional training in the field.
