2027: Jigawa PDP Stakeholders Reject Defection, Back Lamido, Urge Aspirants to Buy Forms

Former Governor of Jigawa State, Alhaji Sule Lamido

Stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party in Jigawa State have resolved to remain in the party and contest the 2027 general elections under its platform, signaling a show of unity amid ongoing political realignments nationwide.

The resolution was reached at a stakeholders’ meeting held in Dutse on Saturday, where party leaders, elders and members reaffirmed their commitment to the PDP and dismissed any speculation of defection or internal division within the state chapter.

In a communique issued at the end of the meeting, the stakeholders called on party members interested in contesting elective positions to promptly proceed to the party secretariat in Dutse to obtain nomination forms ahead of the deadline for sales and submission.

The meeting emphasized the need for early preparation, discipline and collective responsibility as the party positions itself for the 2027 polls. Participants stressed that timely purchase of forms and adherence to party guidelines would ensure a smooth and credible primary process.

Stakeholders also used the opportunity to reaffirm their loyalty to the party’s elder statesman and former governor of the state, Sule Lamido, describing him as a symbol of stability, experience and grassroots connection within the PDP.

They pledged unwavering support for Lamido’s leadership and political direction, noting that his longstanding role as a “leader of the talakawa” continues to inspire confidence among party members across the state.

Special remarks delivered at the meeting further reinforced this position, with speakers urging members to remain united and committed to the ideals of the PDP as a people-oriented party.

The stakeholders expressed optimism about the party’s chances in the 2027 elections, stating that with unity, discipline and strategic mobilisation, the PDP would record a resounding victory at the polls.

They also offered prayers for divine guidance and success, calling on Almighty Allah to grant the party victory in the forthcoming elections for the benefit of the people.

The development comes at a time when several opposition parties are grappling with internal crises and defections, raising concerns about their readiness for the next electoral cycle. However, Jigawa PDP leaders insisted that the state chapter remains focused, organised and prepared to compete effectively.

Political observers note that the strong endorsement of Lamido and the call for early mobilisation could strengthen the PDP’s structure in Jigawa ahead of party primaries and the general elections.

Reiterating the outcome of the meeting, Jigawa State PDP Chairman, Babandi Ibrahim, assured members that all necessary steps would be taken to ensure inclusiveness, transparency and fairness in the party’s processes.

The communique underscored the importance of unity and collective effort, urging members at all levels to work together to reposition the PDP for victory..
