Over 10,000 supporters from across Ideato North and South have formally adopted Hon. Ikenga Ugochinyere as their consensus candidate for the 2027 House of Representatives, state assembly, and governorship elections under the Action Peoples Party (APP), in a show of unity that observers described as historic and overwhelming.
The endorsement rally, held at Christ Anglican Church Field, Ntueke, drew enthusiastic crowds including community leaders, youth groups, women associations, and political stakeholders from both local government areas, who unanimously declared their confidence in Ugochinyere’s leadership and commitment to constituency development.
Speaking on behalf of the people, key stakeholders emphasised that the adoption reflected the lawmaker’s track record in the National Assembly, his accessibility to constituents, and his relentless pursuit of people-oriented policies and projects. They noted that under his representation, Ideato had witnessed renewed visibility at the national level, alongside strategic interventions in infrastructure, empowerment, education, and healthcare.
The stakeholders further stressed that the decision to adopt him as a consensus candidate cut across party lines, describing it as a people-driven movement anchored on performance, credibility, and the desire for continuity in effective representation.
In a show of resolve, the people of Ideato reaffirmed their commitment to safeguarding their collective mandate through lawful and democratic means, warning against any attempt by external forces to undermine the will of the electorate.
“We have spoken with one voice,” a youth leader declared. “No amount of intimidation, manipulation, or political interference will overturn the clearly expressed will of the people. We are united, vigilant, and determined to ensure that every vote counts.”
Women leaders at the rally also expressed strong support, highlighting Ugochinyere’s inclusive approach to governance and his consistent engagement with grassroots communities, which they said had restored hope and strengthened trust in leadership.
The rally also featured solidarity messages from various political and socio-cultural groups, all aligning behind the consensus candidacy and pledging to mobilise massive voter turnout in 2027.
“The overwhelming support seen here today is not accidental,” a community elder added. “It is built on performance, trust, and visible results. Ideato has made its decision, and that decision will stand.”
The gathering concluded with a resounding affirmation that Ideato is poised to deliver a decisive and legitimate victory for Ugochinyere in 2027, reinforcing its commitment to credible elections, unity, and sustained development.
