The Emir of Katsina, Alhaji Abdulmumini Kabir Usman has called on traditional and religious leaders to diligently work at promoting peace and unity amongst the citizenry.
Alhaji Usman, who was speaking during the turbaning ceremony of three district heads, said the virtues of peace and unity were important elements necessary for the socio-economic development of the country.
He said traditional and religious leaders as custodians of society, need to make conscious efforts at promoting peace, stability, and development in their domains and beyond.
The emir, who also called for unity and cooperation among citizens, emphasized on the need for them to uphold religious tenets, as faith, discipline, and strong moral values were vital in building a peaceful society.
“We must avoid envy and jealousy among ourselves. Instead, we should promote love, understanding, and mutual respect,” he added.
He said collective responsibility and support for one another, especially the less privileged, remain essential for societal progress and divine blessings.
He commended the turnout of dignitaries and we’ll wishers at the turbaning ceremony, adding that the large crowd was first of its kind at his place since he become emir several yeara ago.
Those turbaned during the event are: Alhaji Ahmad Usman as Danmajen Katsina and District Head of Dankama; Alhaji Muhammadu Dikko Radda as Gwagwaren Katsina II and District Head of Radda; and Alhaji Abubakar Dardisu as Sarkin Mudurun Katsina and District Head of Muduru.
Governor Dikko Radda, who attended the event, was joined by his Kano state counterpart, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf, as well as the Governor of Zinder State, Damagaram (Republic of Niger).
Other dignitaries at the event included the Deputy Governor of Jigawa State, Engr. Aminu Usman Gumel; the Emir of Daura, Dr. Faruk Umar Faruk; and the Sultan of Damagaram (Zinder, Niger Republic), El Hadji Aboubacar Oumarou Sanda.
Rest gusets were prominent businessman Alhaji Dahiru Mangal; Special Adviser on Political Matters, Kabir Ibrahim Masari; National Coordinator of AUDA-NEPAD, Hon. Salisu Jabiru Tsauri, among others.
