Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Muhammad Ali Pate, has withdrawn from the Bauchi State governorship race ahead of the 2027 general elections, citing the best interests of the state and the nation.

In a video message released to the people of Bauchi State on Sunday night, the minister expressed regret over any inconvenience his decision may have caused, particularly to supporters and residents who had looked forward to his leadership.

Pate appreciated his supporters across the state and beyond, assuring them of his continued commitment to their aspirations, in whatever capacity he serves.

He reaffirmed his dedication to advancing development at both the national and state levels, especially in healthcare delivery, with a focus on maternal and child health and critical surgical services.

The minister also urged youths to desist from political thuggery, violence, and other social vices, stressing that such actions could undermine their future leadership potential.

He called on citizens to support the All Progressives Congress (APC) in securing victory across all elective positions in the state during the 2027 elections. He also appealed to stakeholders and voters to support the re-election of President Bola Tinubu for a second term.

THIS came as thousands of supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and loyalists of Governor Bala Mohammed have trooped to the streets of Bauchi to embrace the Allied People’s Movement (APM), following the governor’s defection to the party.

Mohammed had announced his defection from PDP on Saturday, where he had served as the party’s chairman for about 2 years.

Mohammed said he left due to circumstances he could not manage, but has the party at heart.
