A former Chairman of Kano Municipal Local Government, Faiz Alfindiki, has said the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is executing some of the largest infrastructure and development projects across Northern Nigeria, claiming that over 52 per cent of major national projects are currently located in the region.

Alfindiki made the assertion in a statement in Abuja, urging citizens to focus on tangible development efforts rather than political rhetoric.

According to him, the Federal Government is undertaking more than 1,400 kilometres of major road projects across the North, with a combined value exceeding ₦7.21 trillion.

He described the scale of the projects as evidence of increased federal attention to the region under the current administration.Among the flagship initiatives, he highlighted the proposed Sokoto–Badagry Superhighway, a 1,068-kilometre six-lane corridor with an integrated rail line designed to strengthen economic links between Northern and Southern Nigeria.

He also listed the ongoing reconstruction of the Abuja–Kaduna–Zaria–Kano Road, being upgraded to reinforced concrete pavement, as well as rehabilitation works on the Kano–Maiduguri Road.
Other projects he mentioned include the dualisation of the Kano–Katsina Road, the Akwanga–Jos–Bauchi–Gombe Road, the Zaria–Funtua–Gusau–Sokoto Road, and the reconstruction of the Kano–Hadejia Road.

Alfindiki further noted that the completion of the Cham–Numan Bridge would enhance connectivity and boost economic activities in surrounding communities.

In the transport sector, he referenced the ongoing $1.2 billion Kano–Kaduna Rail Line project, which he said would ease pressure on highways and improve both passenger and cargo movement.

He also cited the Kano–Maradi Rail Line and the proposed Kaduna Light Rail project as part of broader efforts to modernise transportation infrastructure.

Speaking on energy, Alfindiki described the Ajaokuta–Kaduna–Kano (AKK) Gas Pipeline as a landmark project expected to boost industrialisation and improve gas supply to homes and businesses.

He added that the 1,350MW Gwagwalada Independent Power Plant would significantly enhance electricity generation, while solar energy projects in Kaduna State would promote cleaner energy solutions.

On healthcare and agriculture, he pointed to the upgrade of Misau General Hospital to a Federal Medical Centre, improvements at the Reference Hospital in Kaduna, and the rehabilitation of the Kumpada Irrigation Project.

Alfindiki cautioned against what he described as politically motivated narratives aimed at misleading the public. Without naming specific political developments, he criticised opposition figures, including Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, accusing them of offering criticism without practical alternatives.

“The time for propaganda and misinformation is over. Development is driven by action, planning and commitment, not noise,” he said.

He urged residents of the region to support ongoing projects, reject divisive narratives, and work collectively towards a more prosperous Northern Nigeria.
