The Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF) has pledged to deepen its commitment to national security through sustained operational support for security agencies in Lagos and across the country.

The Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of the LSSTF, Dr Ayodele Ogunsan, made the pledge while hosting commanders of the 9 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, NNS Beecroft of the Nigerian Navy and the 651 Base Services Group of the Nigerian Air Force at the Fund’s headquarters in Alausa, Ikeja.

During the visit, the LSSTF donated 50 bulletproof vests and 50 ballistic helmets each to the Nigerian Army’s 9 Brigade, the Nigerian Navy’s NNS Beecroft and the Nigerian Air Force’s 651 Base Services Group.

The equipment was received by the Commander of the 9 Brigade Nigerian Army, Brig. Gen. Ayokunle Olufemi Owolabi; Commander of NNS Beecroft, Commodore Aiwuyor Adams-Aliu; and Commander of the 651 Base Services Group, Air Commodore Mohammed Imam.

Ogunsan reaffirmed the Fund’s commitment to strengthening security architecture and operational efficiency in Lagos, stressing that security remains critical to peace, prosperity and development.

He said the strength of a nation goes beyond weapons and warfare, noting that it also depends on the collective efforts of institutions, citizens and strategic partners in protecting lives and sustaining stability.

Speaking during the presentation, Ogunsan described the military commanders as “the people who keep our nation safe” and commended the armed forces for their sacrifices in maintaining peace and security in Lagos and across Nigeria.

He assured the service chiefs of the LSSTF’s continued support.

“Whatever it requires to ensure that Lagos stays safe, we will continue to provide that support accordingly,” he said.

Ogunsan also disclosed that the new LSSTF office complex, expected to be completed in October, would further strengthen collaboration with security agencies.

According to him, the facility would serve as a “second office” for the armed forces in Lagos.

He added that requests made through the Lagos State Security Council and other operational needs brought before the Fund would receive prompt attention.

Responding on behalf of the service commanders, Brig. Gen. Owolabi thanked the Lagos State Government and the LSSTF for what he described as unwavering support to the armed forces.

He said the intervention would boost ongoing security operations and assured residents that the Nigerian Army, Navy and Air Force would continue to work together to sustain peace and strengthen security across Lagos.

The military commanders also described the donation as timely and impactful, noting that it would support ongoing operations within Lagos and beyond.
