Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo of Kogi State has been urged not to support any alleged third-term agenda being promoted by the Senator representing Kogi East, Jibrin Isah, as stakeholders warned that reinforcing failure could negatively affect the fortunes of the governing All Progressives Congress (APC) in the region.
Speaking in Anyigba, Kogi State, during a stakeholders’ gathering, the President of Kogi East Youth Stakeholders, Ahmed Labaran, stated that recycling politicians who are inaccessible and not people-oriented would only create setbacks for the party.
He maintained that leaders who are disconnected from the grassroots should not be imposed on the people.
The group further advised Governor Ododo not to allow individuals outside Kogi State to dictate the political direction of the state, stressing that the only acceptable democratic process is to allow party members and the people to freely choose their preferred candidate through a transparent and credible credible primary election.
According to the stakeholders, loyal party members who have consistently contributed to the growth and activities of the party over the years should be given the opportunity to contest, rather than imposing total strangers on the people.
Also speaking, Okeme Muhammad FAWWAS FOR MEN Organization Leder, agreed with the position of the group, emphasizing that the mandate should be entrusted to a committed and dedicated party individual who understands the aspirations of the people and has remained loyal to the party structure.
The stakeholders strongly warned that any attempt to impose unpopular candidates or support actions capable of undermining internal democracy could jeopardize the chances of the APC in Kogi East.
