The Yobe States Police Command has nabbed 23 suspects over drug-related offences along the recovery of various illicit substances at the Tashan Fulani village in Tarmuwa Local Council Area of Yobe state.
The about two dozen apprehensions were made, following a coordinated raids and intelligence-driven operations in the Tashan Fulani community of the council area.
The command’s spokesperson, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, in a statement released in Damaturu disclosed: “The police command, in line with its renewed strategies aimed at combating criminal activities and drug-related offenses across the state, has recorded significant successes, following coordinated raids and intelligence-driven operations that led to the arrest of 23 suspects,” adding that various illicit substances were also recovered from the arrested suspects.
Regarding the intelligence-led operations in the council, the SP revealed: “On 14th May 2026, at about 1200hrs, the police operatives attached to the Tarmuwa Division, in collaboration with local vigilantes carried out a massive raid at the Tashan Fulani village.
“During the operation, four suspects were arrested while in possession of various exhibits including two and a half bundles of dry leaves, suspected to be Indian hemp, five packets of solution substances.”
He explained that each of the packets contained 15 pieces of Indian hemp, ten litres of a substance, popularly known as “Suck and Die.”
Other recovered illicit drugs included tramadol and Enzol tablets.
“Investigation is ongoing and the arrested suspects will be charged to court upon conclusion of investigation,” he said.
In a similar development on 13th May,2026 at about 2130hrs, operatives of A Division Damaturu, during their joint night patrol and raid operations within Damaturu township, conducted a coordinated operations at the identified black spots including Zango CMC, Mass Transit Park Area, and the Jerusalem Ajayi community.
According to him, the operation led to the arrest of19 suspects, comprising 14 males and five females.
He said the recovered exhibits from the suspects, included Tramadol capsules, Exol and Diazepam tablets, and large quantities of dry leaves suspected to be Indian hemp.
Meanwhile, the 23 suspects are currently undergoing screening and those found culpable will be charged to court accordingly.
The Commissioner of Police, Usman Kanfani Jibrin has reiterated the command’s unwavering commitment towards sustaining the fight against criminal syndicates, drug abuse, and other related crimes across the State.
The CP further directed officers and tactical teams to sustain the operational tempo and intensify efforts in flushing out criminal elements from their hideouts across the state.
Jibrin, therefore urged members of the public to continue supporting the Police and other security agencies by providing timely and credible information, while remaining vigilant and reporting suspicious persons, movements, or objects within their communities.
