Abubakar Kabir Abubakar, popularly known as Abba Bichi, has emerged as the sole candidate of the All Progressives Congress for the Bichi Federal Constituency House of Representatives seat ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The APC on Saturday commenced its primary elections for House of Representatives seats across the country, with Abubakar Kabir securing affirmation in Bichi Federal Constituency after all 11 APC ward chairmen in the constituency endorsed him as the unopposed candidate.

Speaking during the affirmation exercise, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, represented by his Special Adviser on Political Matters, Ibrahim Kabir Masari, described Abba Bichi’s representation as accessible, responsive and development-driven.

Masari cited the lawmaker’s constituency projects and youth engagement initiatives, noting that Bichi was among the constituencies attracting national attention because of the legislator’s performance and connection with constituents.

He urged party members to support President Tinubu, Abba Kabir Yusuf, Abubakar Kabir Abubakar and other APC candidates in the 2027 elections.

The affirmation event was attended by several APC leaders, including Governor Yusuf, Sada Soli, representing Jibia/Kaita Federal Constituency, and Mu’azu Rabi’u Darma.

Others present included Rabiu Suleiman Bichi, former Kano State Secretary to the State Government Abdullahi Baffa Bichi, the chairman of Bichi Local Government and other party stakeholders.

The gathering also drew women leaders, youth leaders and APC ward chairpersons from across the constituency.

Speaking at the event, Governor Yusuf commended Abubakar Kabir Abubakar’s representation since his election into the House of Representatives in 2019.

“I want to commend Hon. Abubakar Kabir Abubakar for his quality representation. Since 2023, I have prayed to Almighty Allah for the opportunity to work closely with him, and today we are working together for the development of Bichi and Kano State,” the governor said.

He described the lawmaker’s constituency projects, particularly in youth empowerment and community development, as exceptional and urged residents to support his re-election bid in 2027.

In his remarks, Abubakar Kabir Abubakar thanked supporters for the confidence reposed in him and pledged to continue pursuing developmental projects across the constituency if re-elected.

The lawmaker, who currently serves as Chairman of the House Committee on Appropriation, also praised President Tinubu for ongoing infrastructural projects in Northern Nigeria, including the Kano–Daura Road, Abuja–Kaduna–Kano Road and Kano–Maiduguri Road projects.

He further commended the proposed ₦1 trillion Kano Metropolitan Rail Service project, which he said would improve transportation, stimulate economic activities and ease traffic congestion within Kano metropolis.

Abba Bichi reaffirmed that Bichi Local Government would continue to support President Tinubu and the APC in the 2027 general elections.
