Former Labour Party National Chairman, Julius Abure, has criticised the party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, over his handling of the internal crisis that rocked the party after the general election.

Abure said Obi failed to effectively manage the post-election disputes within the Labour Party, adding that the former Anambra governor may eventually regret the outcome.

Abure said this in a viral video on Monday, credited to News Central TV.

“Even if Peter Obi doesn’t come out to say he regrets what happened in the Labour Party, I’m sure he will regret it. He didn’t manage the crisis in the party,” Abure said.

The Labour Party has faced prolonged internal leadership disputes and factional battles since the 2023 elections, with disagreements over the party’s national leadership structure and control of its affairs deepening divisions within the organisation.

Obi, who emerged as a major opposition figure during the 2023 presidential election in the LP. He later exited the party for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) before moving to the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) ahead of the 2027 elections.
