Bauchi North Senator fails to secure return ticket

The Senator representing Bauchi North Senatorial District, Samila Kaila Dahuwa has lost his bid to return to the Red Chamber under the All Progressive Congress (APC), according to the results released by the party election officials.

Announcing the results of the direct primary election on Monday night, Chairman of the National Assembly Primary Election Committee, Brigadier General Saidu Abdulhamid (rtd.), explained that three aspirants contested for the ticket.

He announced Hon Ibrahim Muhammad Baba who scored 22,744 votes to defeat Senator Samaila Kaila Dahuwa who scored 12, 912 votes, while Sirajo Ibrahim Tanko scored 5,210 votes.

He declared that Hon Baba having satisfied the requirements of the law, guidelines of the party and scoring highest votes is hereby declared winner

Also, while announcing the results of Bauchi South Senatorial District election, he said that Hon Yakubu Shehu Abdullahi scored 25,716 votes to defeat his closest rival Brigadier Abubakar Suleiman Maikano (rtd.) scored 6, 870. Hon Shehu Aliyu scored 6,448 votes. While Hon Abdulmumin Kundak scored 4,975 votes and Ibrahim Ali Usman scored 4, 922 votes .

“Accordingly, Hon Yakubu Abdullahi having satisfied the requirements of the Constitution, guidelines and having scored the highest number of votes is hereby declared the winner of the primary election for Bauchi South Senatorial District,” he said.

When contacted in a telephone interview, the serving Senator representing Bauchi North, Samaila Kaila Dahuwa insisted that the results announced in Bauchi about the senatorial elections was fake, adding, “There was an instruction by National Secretariat of the APC that all elections results shall be announced in Abuja and those who announced the results are not the authentic members of the election committee.”

It will be recalled that Dahuwa was elected to the Senate under the banner of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) but defected to the APC in 2025 and led the strong opposition under the APC Caucus against the planned defection of the Governor Bala Mohammed into the APC.
