The management of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology has dismissed reports circulating on social media claiming that the institution was shut down over fears of bandit attacks.
The university described the reports as false and unfounded, insisting that academic activities, including ongoing examinations, were continuing without disruption.

In a statement issued by the university’s Public Relations Officer (PRO), Olalekan Fadeyi on behalf of the Registrar, Mrs. Olayinka Balogun, the institution assured students, parents and guardians that there was no immediate security threat warranting the closure of the university.

The management stated that students were actively participating in their examinations, adding that the exercise would continue as scheduled.

“This is to strongly debunk the rumour making the rounds that the management of LAUTECH, Ogbomoso, has closed down the university for fear of invasion by bandits,” the statement read.

“This is to inform our students, their parents and guardians that there is no immediate reason for management of LAUTECH to close down the university; therefore, the university is still in session.”

The institution further noted that the rumour had caused unnecessary anxiety among members of the university community and the general public.

Management expressed regret over the inconvenience and confusion the false reports may have generated, while urging students and parents to disregard unverified information circulating online.

The clarification came amid heightened security concerns in parts of Oyo State following recent attacks and abductions in some communities within Oriire Local Government Area.

Despite growing concerns over security in parts of the state, the university maintained that normal academic activities remain uninterrupted on campus.
