2027: Radda emerges as Katsina APC governorship candidate

Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Radda

Katsina State Governor, Dr Dikko Radda, has emerged as the governorship candidate of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) in the state.

Radda, who is currently in his tenure as state governor, was unanimously adopted as the choice candidate through an affirmative exercise on Thursday afternoon.

The event, which was held at the People’s Square, opposite the Government House, saw more than 1,000 party delegates affirm him as the party’s governorship candidate ahead of the 2027 polls.

Speaking, Chairman of the APC Electoral Committee, Yakubu Maccido, said the governor secured endorsement through a voice vote by delegates and party supporters.

According to Maccido, the affirmation followed a unanimous agreement among stakeholders in the state, and the outcome reflected the party’s resolve to maintain unity ahead of the 2027 polls.

He added that the exercise was conducted peacefully and in line with the party’s guidelines.

He said, “While some states experienced tension during the process, Katsina distinguished itself through unity, discipline, and effective leadership under Governor Radda.

While thanking delegates and party members for giving him another opportunity to contest for another term in office, Governor Radda assured that he would continue to implement policies and programmes that have a positive bearing in the lives of the people.

Radda also assured that, if he gets to be re-elected come the 2027 election, he would build upon his achievements during his first tenure for the socio-economic development of the state and its people.

Also speaking, former governor of the state, Aminu Bello Masari, said it was not enough that consensus agreements were held and candidates chosen to fly the party’s tickets; much work still needs to be done ahead of the elections.

He said it was only when party members reach out to the people and sell the party that the chances of APC’s candidates would be high during the coming general elections.

Masari, therefore, called on the party’s members to ensure they go to every nook and cranny of the state to sell the APC’s manifesto to the people.
