President Bola Bola Tinubu has recorded a commanding victory in the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primary held across Kebbi State, securing massive support from party members in all 225 wards of the state.
The primary, conducted on Saturday across the 21 local government areas of Kebbi, ended with overwhelming backing for the president, reinforcing his growing influence within the ruling party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Party officials and stakeholders who monitored the exercise described the process as peaceful, organised and largely successful, with delegates and APC loyalists turning out in significant numbers to participate in the ward-based exercise.
The outcome is being interpreted within party circles as another major boost for Tinubu’s re-election ambition and a sign of his continued dominance in the APC structure across northern Nigeria.
The Kebbi result comes amid a series of endorsements and victories already secured by the president in other APC strongholds, a development analysts say may further discourage potential challengers within the party ahead of the national convention.
Supporters of the president in Kebbi said the outcome reflected confidence in Tinubu’s leadership and his administration’s policies since assuming office in 2023. They pointed to ongoing economic reforms, infrastructure projects and efforts aimed at stabilising the country’s security situation as reasons behind the strong support recorded during the primary.
Political observers believe the outcome may also strengthen ongoing consultations among APC leaders seeking to present a united front before the next election cycle officially begins.
The ruling party has in recent months intensified internal mobilisation efforts across states as opposition parties continue talks on possible coalitions to challenge the APC in 2027.
Although the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is yet to release the official timetable for the next presidential election, political activities within major parties have continued to gather momentum, with endorsements, consultations and strategic alignments already shaping the early battle for 2027.
