Cube Cover, a Tasala insurance broker company, has partnered with Slot Systems Limited to launch Super Fix, a device protection service aimed at helping Nigerians reduce the rising cost of fixing damaged phones, particularly damaged screens.

The companies unveiled the product at a launch event where executives said rising dependence on mobile devices and the increasing cost of replacement parts had created the need for affordable device protection plans.

Chief Executive Officer of Slot, Nnamdi Ezeigbo, said the partnership was designed to improve customer experience by reducing the financial burden associated with fixing damaged phones.

“We’ve seen how much people spend to replace their screens, and we’ve also seen that the price of screens is increasingly becoming expensive,” he said.

According to him, screen replacement costs have risen sharply in recent years, with some repairs costing between 20 and 30 per cent of the total value of a device.

He noted that the company sought a partner capable of delivering affordable and reliable protection services for customers, adding that the collaboration aligns with Slot’s focus on value, trust and after-sales support.

The companies said the partnership was designed to extend device support beyond the point of purchase by integrating insurance protection with Slot’s existing repair and retail network.

The insurance product allows customers to insure devices starting from N5, 000 yearly for coverage worth up to N50, 000, while higher-tier plans provide coverage of up to N300, 000 depending on the type of device and screen repair cost.

Chief Executive Officer of CubeCover, Deji Macaulay, said the service was developed in response to the financial and operational challenges users face when their devices become damaged.

He explained that smartphones have become central to daily life, with many Nigerians relying on them for communication, banking, transportation, business and social interaction. As a result, prolonged repair delays or expensive maintenance often disrupt users’ activities significantly.

“If your phone is damaged and it’s taking too much time to fix because it’s either expensive or you don’t know where to fix it, then you sort of suffer a lot of impact,” he said.

Macaulay said there would be a waiting period before customers become eligible to make claims, describing it as a standard industry practice designed to protect the integrity of the service.

He added that Superfix covers screen and water damage, although theft is currently excluded, and was designed to simplify claims processing and improve customer confidence in insurance services.

According to him, claims submitted through the platform can be approved within seconds, while customers would also receive updates throughout the repair process, from device submission to collection.

“The claim experience is the opportunity to build trust,” he said. “From the moment your claim is submitted, it can be approved automatically within 10 seconds.”

The service will be accessible through Slot’s retail and repair outlets nationwide, allowing customers to process repairs through existing company locations.

The SuperFix service is also powered by the Cube Cover mobile app, which provides customers with a fully digital experience, including digital onboarding, policy management, a repair shop locator, and a smart pre-approval section that enables users to quickly initiate and track repair approvals before visiting a repair centre.

Chief Operating Officer of CubeCover, Alfred Egbai, said customers can initiate repairs through the company’s platform or directly at Slot outlets by providing their registered phone numbers for verification.

“All you have to do is present the device and give them your phone number. Nothing complex,” he said.
