…as Customs strengthens economic drive
The Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Adewale Adeniyi, has called on Nigerians to embrace unity, sacrifice, and discipline as essential values for national development, stressing that the lessons of Eid-el-Kabir should reflect in daily life and governance.
Adeniyi made the appeal on Wednesday, 27 May 2026, after observing Eid prayers at the Modakeke Eid Ground in Ile-Ife, Osun State, where he joined other Muslim faithful in marking the festival.
He described Eid-el-Kabir as a period that reinforces obedience to God, selflessness, and commitment to shared humanity, noting that the story of Prophet Ibrahim remains a guiding example for both spiritual and civic responsibility.
According to him, the celebration should go beyond festivities to inspire deeper reflection on patience, sacrifice, and peaceful coexistence among Nigerians of different religious and ethnic backgrounds.
Reaffirming his message of unity, he urged citizens to remain law-abiding and focused on national progress, adding that respect for the rule of law and civic responsibility are key to sustaining stability and development.
Turning attention to the operations of the Nigeria Customs Service, the CGC expressed satisfaction with ongoing reforms aimed at improving revenue generation, trade facilitation, and anti-smuggling efforts. He noted that these reforms are also strengthening Nigeria’s economic outlook in line with the federal government’s policies.
Adeniyi further disclosed that export activities have continued to record steady improvement, attributing the progress to enhanced operational efficiency within the Service.
He maintained that the Nigeria Customs Service remains firmly aligned with President Bola Tinubu’s economic agenda, particularly in supporting trade growth, national security, and overall economic diversification.
