Dr Stephen Akintayo

Gtext Holdings has kicked off a series of activities to celebrate its 18th anniversary.

The founder, Dr Stephen Akintayo speaking during a press briefing held shortly after a Developer and Investor Conference and Exhibition (DICE), held as part of the company’s 18th anniversary said that the company that started with little or no capital is now fully represented in three continents. According to him, as the company looks and journey into the future, it will continue to diversify. He maintained that the story of the company is unique considering the no near capital it started out with and the accomplishment it has achieved over the years.

“The company is now in the diversification stage. We are looking into the future with more diversification goals,” he stated. He revealed that part of that diversification efforts is why Ginido Group, a company registered some years back will be birthing in China in June as a trading arm of the company. He added that the company also hopes to explore opportunities with the renewable energy and security.

“We are also looking at security, providing graduate security men to private individuals and organisations. This is because security is a major issue.” He said discussions are already on with one of the largest CCTV camera company in Chine with the hope of having an assembly plant in Nigeria. He said that the security officers that will not only be well trained would be graduates who will be well kitted though they may not carry gun. “There is so much you will be hearing from us” he disclosed. He also talked about expanding into farm land banking by Gtext.

He stated that in the next ten years, it will be huge diversification efforts by the company. “We are in the next 10 years into diversification. When you look at real estate and how real estate is structured in a way that in long time, it tied down capital, which does not give room liquidity.”

He noted that some of the real estate firms that had issues, it was not because they want to play games but that they had liquidity issues. “They try to find other ways to unlock liquidity that didn’t work out the best way. We are trusting God that this new phase will take us into expanding and everybody benefits from this.” He also said that an anniversary dinner will be held on Saturday, May 30, in Lagos, while the conference and exhibition was held to provide better insight for young operators and those who want to invest in the real estate sector.
