Ifeanyi Matthew, an expert in automobile and spare part has revealed poor electricity supply as one of the major challenges affecting the business operations in Nigeria.

In an exclusive chat with The Guardian, the inconsistent power situation has continued to create difficulties for businesses within the automobile industry.

He also highlighted the challenges associated with customs shipment and clearing processes. He noted that these issues often slow down business activities and increase the cost of operations for industry players.

While discussing these challenges, he appealed to the government to support the automobile sector through the introduction of favourable policies. He expressed the belief that better policies would contribute significantly to the growth and development of the industry.

Giving the illustration that, “A bad mechanic is worse than a doctor,” he explained that while a doctor only ends one person’s life at a time, a mechanic’s mistake can lead to accidents that would kill thousands of people at a go.

He further revealed that his company is making efforts to address mistakes within the industry that have contributed to accidents and other safety concerns. These efforts, he said, are aimed at ensuring safer practices and benefiting Nigerians.

Speaking about his long-term aspirations, the automobile expert said his vision is to make Nigeria one of the leading forces in the global automobile industry. He stressed the need for innovation and excellence to achieve international recognition.

“Nigeria is a great place. Our vision is to write our name in the global stage and make people know that it’s not everything the Europeans or the white’s do that we can’t do”, he said.

He concluded by expressing confidence in Nigeria’s potential, stating that the country has what it takes to compete on the global stage. According to him, the knowledge and experience gained from overseas training should now be used to advance the Nigerian automobile industry and demonstrate that Nigerians can achieve world-class standards.
