The Commissioner of Police in Delta State, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, has charged 457 newly promoted police officers to remain dedicated to their responsibilities, uphold professionalism, integrity, and discipline, and continue to conduct themselves in ways that enhance the image of the Nigeria Police Force.

The officers, who were recently elevated from the rank of Police Constable to Corporal, received their new insignia during a decoration ceremony held at the Delta State Police Command Headquarters in Asaba.

Addressing the officers, the Commissioner congratulated them on their promotion, describing the advancement as a reward for their commitment, loyalty, discipline, and dedication to service.

He noted that promotion remains a significant milestone in the career of every police officer and reflects the confidence reposed in them by the leadership of the Nigeria Police Force.

Oyeniyi emphasized that promotion comes with increased responsibilities and higher expectations, urging the newly decorated Corporals to justify the confidence placed in them through exemplary conduct and commitment to duty.

He further called on the officers to align themselves with the vision and leadership direction of the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, stressing the need for officers to respect the rights of citizens, strengthen community policing initiatives, and sustain public confidence in law enforcement.

According to the Commissioner, maintaining professionalism and fostering positive relationships with members of the public are critical to effective policing and the overall success of the Force in combating crime and ensuring public safety.

He reiterated the Command’s commitment to personnel welfare, professional development, and merit-based career progression, assuring officers that hard work, dedication, and exemplary service remain the key criteria for advancement within the Force.

The decoration ceremony was attended by members of the Command Management Team and other senior officers, who joined in celebrating the newly promoted personnel.

The event underscored the Delta State Police Command’s commitment to recognizing excellence among its personnel while encouraging officers to continue serving with diligence, accountability, and respect for the rule of law.
