…Urges pilgrims to renew voter cards Amid heightening political climate, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf says he is rather not “losing sleep” over the activities of opposition ahead of next year’s election, insisting only God decides who becomes next Governor in Kano State.
Although, he expressed confidence of emerging victorious in one of the highly anticipated poll in Nigeria, Gov. Yusuf was quick to ask the 2026 Kano pilgrims to renew their voter cards to secure his second term in office.
The Governor made the known while addressing the state pilgrims and Hajj officials in Makkah, Saudi Arabia,
stressed that “no individual or group has the power to install or prevent anyone from attaining leadership”.
Citing from the scripture, Yusuf reminded that while some people believed some figures influence who becomes a leader, the ultimate authority belongs to God, who grants and withdraws power according to His will.
He emphasized that leadership is a divine trust and that Allah alone decides who occupies positions of authority and when.
“As believers, we must understand that leadership comes from Allah. He gives power to whom He wills and takes it away when He wills,” the Governor stated.
Governor Yusuf further said that he had submitted himself completely to the will of Allah regarding future political developments, expressing confidence that God’s decree would always prevail.
He also urged the pilgrims to ensure that they possess valid voter cards upon their return to Nigeria, calling on those whose cards require renewal to do so promptly before the expiration of the registration and renewal period.
The Governor however urged pilgrims to devote the remaining period of their stay in the holy land to intensive prayers for peace and tranquility of Kano state and Nigeria in general.
He urged them to exercise patience on the late inbound flight schedule, appealing for calm and perseverance as inherent in the religious tenet.
Earlier, the Director General, Kano state Pilgrims’ Welfare Board, Alh. Abubakar Ibrahim Matawalle disclosed the 24th June for the commencement of the returning flight of Kano Pilgrims’ back home.
While given the assurance of the board to facilitate smooth conveyance of over 3,600 contingents and their baggage back to Nigeria, Matawalle maintained the inbound airlift will not last more than 4 days.
