Nigerian forward Elogie Oha Tekevwe has taken another step in his professional career after making his Dhivehi Premier League debut for Club Green Streets, becoming one of the latest Nigerian footballers to feature in the Maldivian top flight.
Tekevwe, who is naturally deployed on the left wing but can also operate as a centre forward, made his first league appearance for the club in their Matchday Two encounter against Victory SC.
Having joined Club Green Streets on 10 September 2025, the Nigerian attacker was introduced as a second-half substitute and played the final 15 minutes of the match as his side suffered defeat. Despite the result, he showed encouraging signs during his brief outing, registering an attempt on goal and demonstrating a willingness to take the game to the opposition.
The appearance marked an important milestone for the former Espoir FC player, whose career has steadily progressed through opportunities across West African football before his move to the Maldives.
Tekevwe’s arrival has also strengthened the Nigerian contingent at Club Green Streets. He now shares the dressing room with fellow countryman Ojo Olorunleke, the experienced goalkeeper and Nigerian international, as the club continues its campaign in the Dhivehi Premier League.
Although his debut came in difficult circumstances, the outing provided the forward with valuable exposure to the demands of Maldivian top-flight football and an opportunity to begin adapting to a new league and environment.
Capable of operating both from wide areas and through the middle, Tekevwe offers versatility that could prove useful for the coaching staff over the course of the season. His direct running, pace and ability to occupy different attacking positions provide additional options as Green Streets seek to improve their form.
For the Nigerian forward, the focus will now shift towards earning more minutes on the pitch and establishing himself within the squad. With his debut behind him, Tekevwe will be hoping to translate early promise into meaningful contributions in the form of goals and assists as the season progresses.
As Nigerian players continue to expand their presence in emerging football markets around the world, Tekevwe’s latest career move reflects both the global reach of the country’s talent and the diverse pathways available to ambitious young professionals.
